All of our calendars combined into one for easy viewing
We are so happy to have you this year. Here are some of the many things to look forward to:
English Language Arts: We read many different fiction and non-fiction texts throughout the year. Students will participate in “book tastings” to sample books they may want to read. We also get to hone in our writing skills as we practice essay writing.
Math: Happy Math Day! This year, we spend a lot of time becoming proficient with fractions and decimals in the 4 operations of math.
Social Studies: Time to take a trip through the past as we focus on American History from the Early Explorers to the Civil War. This year you will also learn about all the former presidents of the United States.
Science: Got a favorite field of science you like to study? This year you will have 3 fields of science to learn about: Physical Science, Earth Science, and Life Science. In Physical Science we spend time learning about matter and its states and movement. In Earth Science, we focus on the 4 spheres of Earth and learn how each one interacts and changes over time. In Life Science, we learn about plants as well as animals in their ecosystems.
Other things to look forward to this year include a visit to the Capital building, a visit from Discovery Gateway to do some hands-on science, a field trip to the aquarium to check out underwater ecosystems, Music programs, and so much more! We look forward to a great year!
Sincerely,
5th Grade Team
We are SO excited to meet you all! At Athlos Academy, 6th grade is a time to prepare the mind to make real world connections to what is being taught in the classroom. Here is a little preview of what is going to be covered in your subjects this upcoming year.
