A Message to Athlos Academy Families

Graphic of announcement

Dear Athlos Academy Parents and Guardians,

We are writing to update you regarding a recent news report concerning allegations of bullying involving two staff members. As always, the safety and well-being of our students remain our highest priority, and we take any reports that suggest otherwise very seriously.

Conclusion of Investigations
We want to inform you that all investigations related to these allegations described in the news report were investigated after they were received almost a year ago and have now been completed. In addition to the school’s internal investigation, multiple authorities conducted these investigations, including UPAC, the Utah State Charter Board, the Utah School Board, and local law enforcement. We fully cooperated with each of these organizations throughout their respective investigations. After careful review, no charges, changes, or corrections were deemed necessary by any of these agencies.

Staff Performance Update
While the investigations have concluded, we continue to monitor and support staff performance to ensure that all professional standards are upheld. One of the staff members remains on a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP), and we are pleased to report that their professional performance has improved during this school year.  We have not received any recent or additional reports of bullying or unprofessional conduct against this or any other staff member.

Ongoing Commitment to Safety
Our commitment to fostering a safe and supportive learning environment remains unwavering. We continue to review our internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state regulations and best practices. Our goal is to provide a nurturing and secure environment free from bullying and misconduct for all students.

Communication and Support
We understand that situations like this can raise concerns, and we encourage you to contact us with any questions or feedback. We value your partnership in helping to create a positive and supportive school community for your children.

Rest assured, we will keep you updated on any relevant updates. Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding as we work together to maintain the highest standards of safety and care for our students.

Sincerely,
Dr. Brian Dawes
